Integrative Body Psychotherapy
Integrative Body Psychotherapy for somatic psychotherapy originated with Dr. Jack Lee Rosenberg. This Therapy utilizes a Reichian perspective and includes theory and therapeutic skills in object relations, Gestalt therapy, systems theory, couples work, sexuality, transpersonal psychology, trauma and pre- and peri-natal birth work.
IBP offers an accessible and usable structure for Psychotherapists versed in many modalities of working with an individual or group. Its emphasis is on integration and embodiment. As a structure it offers a clear but open form for how practitioners can combine and unify the various aspects of their training and who they are. Client’s in turn find that the many aspects of their humanity are being addressed in the therapy, not through compartmentalization but through a flow of experience that can be recognized as integration of mind, body, heart, soul and spirit.
IBP schools offer professional training programs, life-coaching programs, therapeutic training for body-workers, continuing education programs, supervision, and internships.
There are two primary IBP Centers worldwide:
- The Central IBP Institute in Los Angeles, California USA founded and supported by Dr. Jack Lee Rosenberg and Dr. Beverley Kitaen Morse.www.ibponline.org.
- The IBP-Institut, Switzerland founded and supported by Dr. Markus Fischer. The main offices are located in Winterthur, Switzerland. Training courses are located at residential retreat centers throughout Switzerland. www.ibp-institut.ch.
Many of the perspectives and tools from IBP are foundational to Andrea’s work with movement groups, and in teaching therapy she brings IBP concepts, theories and practices alive through movement explorations.
Andrea is a member of the teaching staff of the IBP-Institut, Switzerland.
